Joe Rocket was founded in 1992 in Windsor, Ontario by Bruce Parker. After graduating university and becoming a teacher, Bruce decided he liked motorcycles more than he liked kids, so he opened a motorcycle shop called Parker Bros. Motors where he sold hundreds of motorcycles and thousands of motorcycle jackets.
After years of selling jackets with European sounding names that no one could pronounce, Bruce came up with the idea for “Joe Rocket”, a name many lamented as “the dumbest name ever heard” but that was kind of the point. Bruce sold his motorcycle shops and embarked on a mission to put Joe Rocket on the map as a leader in motorcycle apparel.
After 6 long years of selling jackets on the road to anyone who would listen, Joe Rocket came up with The Ballistic Jacket and sold a thousand jackets. This felt like a real breakthrough and it was a time for celebration. Next was the invention of The Phoenix Mesh Jacket, it sold one hundred thousand units and Joe Rocket never looked back.
After bringing on riders like; Steve Crevier, Nicky Hayden, Eddie Lawson, Jay Springstein, and many more, Joe Rocket became kings in the world of motorcycle racing. They won the Canadian Superbike Championship 9 years in a row and have over 40 championships across the world!
Bruce Parker is no longer the founder of “Joe Rocket, the dumbest name ever heard”. He is now “the marketing genius behind Joe Rocket”.
